Thanks for the feedback Andrew.I was trying to avoid getting into a tube amp because of the cost, maintenance and the fact that these are only 87db/w speakers and require a bit of power to get loud. My tube pre didn't really solve the problem, despite using a pair of NOS 7308's in them.
