T Daddy is right; also, the U52/5U4 are filamentary cathode/direct heated types which apply the DC to the opt and small-signal tubes after 3-4 seconds-- this causes cathode stripping and is the reason for using GZ34s and 5V4s; these have an indirectly heated cathode and will not apply the DC until all the tubes are more or less ready for it. The U52 is a sweet rectifier; I favor WWII Sylvania VT series or Tung Sol 5U4G ST bulb types for their incredible punch and astounding dynamics, but they are nowhere near as refined and smooth as the great U52-- you are fortunate to own some of these fine tubes.
