Hi Jim !
Have you ever played with the GM100 ? This is the 'melon on a stick' valve is it not ? GM70 is another one and I know several others are playing with triode-strapped 813 . Trouble is with the really big triodes , cost goes right through the roof with the filament , power supply and output transformer , this is what puts me off . I had enough trouble finding an economical use for 6C33 , eventually 'cheating' and arranging them in SRPP parafeed which was the only way I could afford to use them with the cost of really meaty gapped SE OPTX's . In the end I used a toroid and it works fine , in fact sounds very nice !...FB
