The earlier production Seimens and Amperex have this metal disc supported by the upright metal bars below the halo. This is consistent with the description given in Joe's Tube Lore on the FAQ.
It also is consistent with the configuration on a 60's Amperex 7308 I
have . A later production (late 70's) Seimens 7308 I had lacked this metal disc and had just the halo
above the upper mica spacer as the one in the poster's picture has.
I don't think they were fake, though, and they sounded great to me. Some of the tube vendors downplay this tube as being inferior to the earlier production Seimens and being a "Seimens/Rohre" as opposed to
earlier "Seimens/Halske" but that might just be because they don't have either to sell you, I'm not sure. I have a pair of what appear
to be early SH 7308's on order and I guess I'll find out if there is a major difference.In any case, I certainly didn't mean to make you doubt your tubes' genuineness
and if they sound good I bet they're the real deal.Sincerely,
