Re: a warning

You might waste your money if you buy the wrong thing. I bought a Pioneer integrated for about that price that used EL84's for about 20 watts/channel. It sounded pretty awful, and I thought that's OK, time to do some tweaking. Under the chassis was so ugly and cramped that replacing the caps with something reliable and good sounding was impossible. The thing was packed solid with cheap components. Even replacing the old unreliable oil/paper caps with modern metallised film was almost impossible, let alone some good film and foil ones (which are even larger). Also, it was so cramped inside, that it ran super hot, and there was plenty of evidence of components half-cooked. Not worth it. I used the iron for other projects.
