Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ

I'm sticking to tubes

I use a pair of 6922's in my preamp and in my amplifier. I tube rolled, found my favorite NOS tubes and hoarded 4 sleeves all from the same 1968 lot for only $16/tube. found some excellent 6dj8's too, but could only get one sleeve...damn! tube hunting is frustrating, but worth the time and effort IMO.
These tubes last almost 10,000 hrs, don't they??? I put about 4-5 hours a day on my system, so each tube should last 5.5 years at that rate. I think there are plenty of great tubes still to be had, it just takes a bit of luck in finding them.
I have no desire to give up the wonderful liquidity from my tube components to go back to solid state grunge. I'm holding on for the ride.
