The reports of tubes' demise are greatly exaggerrated. Especially when it comes to the Amperex 6dj8/6922/7308 family. These are some of the easiest tubes to turn up, in my experience. Patience can pay off. Many of the 6dj8's sound better than many of the 6922s in some gear, and there have to be zillions out there yet to be harvested, in old Tektronix oscilloscopes alone.I feel for you if you're stuck on a particular hard-to-find Amperex 6922 and can't seem to locate one for a reasonable sum. But hey, each one probably will last a year or so. And once you've heard what you really like, will anything else really do?
Just my experience, JH
