Need suggestions to tweak SFS40

Hello All,

I've just purchased a used SFS40. However, I am quite disappointted
with the amp in my current system. This is my current system:
Preamp: SFL1
Poweramp: SFS40
Speaker: Maggies MG12
Speaker cable: DIY Cat5
Interconnect: IXOS Gold
Source: Sony SCD-333ES SACD

The result is a lack of bass, no energy, too bright, small
soundstage, not very tube-like (as I expected), rolled off in
the high, not warmth,...overall, not very musical...even worst
than before (when running Integra SS poweramp).

Current tubes are EL34 Solv... Any suggestions would be very helpful!
I heard that Maggies match pretty well w/ Tube amps...i guess maybe just not w/ my SFS40. Any tweaks? Perhaps change speaker cables?
I am guessing it's one reason for the bright sounds.
