Telefunken exported to the US market a lot and it is very common to see Tele tubes with US numbering. For example, it is very common - I have some right here - to see ECC802S in boxes marked 5814A, which was supposedly the US equivalent.The boxes mean very little, if anything. As to the tubes, others have covered this better than I. In particular, Par points out a common misconception about Telefunken, in that they did far less manufacturing than many people today believe. It is very common to see tubes branded Telefunken that they bought from others, even tubes that they did produce. If they had a large order for 6922's this week, and weren't doing 6922's on the line for awhile - you bet, they went to the market and bought the tubes to fill the order.
