Hi Bob,
I don't have this electronically but here is the info,
try drawing it to see if I gave you enough info....The COM is connected to the Z-Matic switch (on-off) and
one end of the Z-Matic control (pot). The COM is also connected to one end of the .8 ohm resistor.
The COM is also connected to the "top" of the two 1 ohm resistors
in series. The "bottom of the 1 ohm resistors is connected
to ground. With the switch in the 16 Ohm position, only the
1 ohm resistors are connected so there is 2 ohms to ground. In the 4 ohm position, the switch connects the
other end of the .8 ohm resistor to ground (in parallel
with the two 1 ohm resistors.)In the 8 ohm position, the switch connects the center
of the 1 ohm resistors to ground but leaves the .8 ohm open.In the 16 ohm position, none of the resistors are connected to
ground (leaving the 2 ohms to ground.)Is that enough?
Editorial comment: The 80AZ is an outstanding amplifier as
built. It is downright ridiculous to convert this
to triodes. All of the K-9 names are well deserved!Cheers,
-Eng
