FB,Well, its currently being sold (though not currently being made). And I've seen ads where amp companies (and these weren't guitar amps, but hi-fi amps) touted the GT 6201M. Extolling their virtue in the manufacturer's product.
I haven't used the Ei 12AT7. Most of my experience is with NOS stuff. But, for ancient Fenders and Marshalls the old US made 12AT7 and Philips (Mullard, Philips, Valvo, Amperex) or TFK made ECC81 seem to bring out the classic tone best.
I, also, haven't tried the Mullard CV 4024. Is this tube similar, in tone to the Mullard E81CC? The last time I bought a few of these gold pins boys for $25, each NOS. Kinda high price---looked like late 60-70's production. Quiet tube, okay tone.
Last set of NOS that were nice, cost $25 each. Dutch Philips Miniwatt E81CC. Nice tone in European guitar amps. Pretty tough tubes. I bought a few about three years ago, so I'm sure the prices have gone up.
