Problem is kind of common with tube gear. The hum may be an indication that the power tubes need to be biased. It probably would not cost too much to replace them and keep the old for backups - at least you would know for sure what the hours are. I have an Orchestra but not the Reference so I can't speak for power tube rolling - both the 90's and 88's get generally positive reviews.One habit I changed after buying my jadis was leaving it on all the time - do a search here for "fire" and you will see why.
