Help needed in identifying brand of tube (GZ34).

203.167.67.147

Hello everybody,

I was offered by an acquaintance a NOS GZ34/5AR4 tube for $50. He's not sure what the tube's brand is. It was given to him as a spare for a Dynaco ST70 he bought while in the US of A.

Most of the markings on the tube are gone except for the following: a) GZ34/5AR4
MADE IN
HOLLAND

b) f31
X9E

The base is 17mm high, black and matte. The hole in the centering pin is about 1mm deep. The plates are gray and have straigth sides (no serrations). There are two "D" shaped getters on top. The bottom mica spacer is round while the top has small protrusions at the edge and pointing downwards. Lastly, I notice a support rod welded at the lower side of each plate --- two in all. The tube is with me right now for evaluation. The guy will be back this weekend to collect payment or get back the tube if I don't like it.

Is this a good tube? Is the price asked for reasonable? I need an immediate replacement for one of a pair of Mullard (with serrated plates) which became gassy. In the meantime I'm awaiting the arrival of a pair of metal base GZ34's from Micronetics I bought through Ebay --- hopefully they'll arrive this week.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers to all,
Reuben
