Re: Are Mullard CV4024 and M8162 the same?

210.80.26.172

M8162 is not a 6201.

M8162 is produced by Mullard only and sometimes also branded as CV4024. And there is a number of versions of M8162 produced by Mullard as well. Some are branded as ECC801S too. The M8162 is unusual for a 12AT7 in that it does NOT have "half-plate" structure as seen in mant other 12AT7.

It belongs to the same series as M8136(12AU7)and M8137(12AX7) produced by Mullard.

CV4024 is also produced by Brimar. Both Brimar 12AT7WA and 6060 sometime come with the CV4024 marking.

Most European 6201 are produced by Amperex Holland but some maybe from Valvo or Mullard too (all with half-plate structure). US 6201 is also available and made by GE and RCA. It is also a premium 12AT7 but sound quite different from M8162.

You can see some pic of the various Mullard 12AT7 under the "Photos" section of our club.
