The heavy flashing examples are all iron curtain; there are even some Telefunken that have the <> that have this flashing, and are East German, 100%. Many companies "outsourced" these tubes that initially were most popular for USSR instrument use in Nuclear facilities-- when Tektronics and Siemens introduced 'scopes and other instruments that used them, it became economically viable for Western companies to tool up to manufacture this miniature frame-grid 6080. (Identical to the huge octal 6080 save for ratings of course) Chris
