NM,

I've gone through some amps over-&-over, until my eyes were ready to pop out---and still I couldn't get them to sound like they're suppose to sound like.

I find it's sometimes best to set the bugger aside (unless a customer is waiting for the amp to be fixed)---and go to something else. Better, if it is not even closely related to electronics.

Odd, but after a few weeks to a month---you'll pick up that bitch of a unit and right in front of your eyes lies the problem.

FYI [my opinion]---when it comes to PS units---the PT, rectifier, & filter circuit--I try real hard to stay as close to the factory's OEM nominal values as possible. I haven't had much luck with aftermarket or DIY board kits. If worse comes to worse---I've made my own boards to replace cap cans, when I can't find good NOS replacement.

I know several on this board have had good luck with these aftermarket boards---and some here even make these boards, but for heavy duty guitar amp use, they just don't seem to withstand the use (& abuse) and fail after a short time.

When any part of the PS fails---you risk BIGTIME damage to the rest of your unit. For me, I tend to be real conservative about PS designs. I stick to simple plans that has worked for amps with good reliable reputations. Just my peccadillo.
