I would very much appreciate if someone can confirm to me that the Telefunken ECC803S and ECC802S have the same electrical characteristics of the 12AX7 and 12AU7 respectively.
The question is very important for me because the manufacturer of my preamplifier stated in the instructions that:
1)Just use 12AX7 only! Not use 5751 or 12AX7A because standard of the heaters are different.
2)Concerning the 12AU7 - Is possible to use also the 6189W tube, but absolutely not the 5814.
In the light of above do you believe that replacing the actual:pair of
Toshiba 12AX7(phono stage) with Telefunken ECC803S and pair of Philips ECG 12AU7(line stage) with Telefunken ECC802S, is it possible to harm and damage the preamplifier?
And do you believe that I will get an improvement of the sound replacing the actual tubes with the Telefunken?
