Well, I'm all for infoshare on cool tube alternatives, but like any hardcore tubeguy, some sources and sleeper tubes are most private. (Hence the recommendations for Mullard, Telefunken and Amperex; no s**t? Those guys made good tubes? Never heard that!) Anyway, I let a good thing go-- the E80f. I used to pick up sleeves of 5 NIB Gold Pin Red Lable Valvo (the best, selected version; otherwise the Valvos, except for the additional screening w/ results included in the box, are all the same manufacturer; Dutch Amperex or Siemens) for $2-$3.50 per tube in crisp unused 1963 condition. I passed up 5 NIB Amperex as they went for $25-- "too much!" The last quad of Valvos went for $125. Antique Elec. Supply gets 43.00 for this tube, so it's still a bargain, but.. oh well. I have enough, and I like the GEC CV4085 best anyway. Peace, Chris
