SG,Seems that no one wanted to touch this baby. I recall reading somewhere (probably on a bathroom wall) that Westinghouse R&D'ed this great tube. And made many batches of it.
WAG'ing here: I believe that Sylvania built some 7591 and 7591A under contract, to keep up with the demand. So, the construction is probably the same. I guess a lot of amps started using this tube around the same time (late 50's-early 60's).
All my Ampeg labeled 7591A say "made for Ampeg by Sylvania." Haven't seen an Ampeg Westinghouse tube.
Anyhow, they are both great tubes.
