KR 2A3 follow-up

Since I was stuck at home this weekend, I decided to try to make the KRs work in my system-I liked the pristine treble and general cleanliness, but not the midrange suckout, and VERY distant perspective. So I hopped over to my boxes of various tubes and did some MAJOR swapping. Finally, after trying more combinations than I care to list, I finally found one that might be working. Basically, I made my preamp what would have been rather forward and way too midrangey sounding under other circumstances. This gave the KRs more of a mid-hall perspective, so I wont have to grab my binoculars when I listen, and gave them some warmth and harmonic fullness. Yes, there are times where I am reminded that they are dark (still), certain precussion and synthesizers show it, but over all it seems listenable. Detail has certainly improved-frighteningly so. Time will tell if it is in the long run.
