I am running a pair of Amperex 7316PQ's in my CAT preamp, and would characterize them as very detailed, transparent, quick bass, extended highs, good soundstage. I like these better in this application than GE 6680, Siemens 5814A, 50's D-getter Raytheon 5814A, RFT 12AU7, CIFTE 6189's I tried. If you want a little more warmth, at the expense of transparency and detail, the Raytheon 5814A is the ticket.
