I can't give you a definitive answer because I have not used the brands which the distributor recommends, but here are a couple of considerations:1) There is some point of diminishing return on a $99 amplifier. You must decide where it is, but I would not spend as much upgrading coupling caps on a Wave as I would on a $1,000 amp. The Auricaps are generally a bit less costly than the Hovlands or Audio Caps and many on this board believe they are superior. I have used them as coupling caps for other components and like them - very neutral uncolored sound to my ears. I believe Michael Percy generally has the lowest prices on Auricacs.
2) There isn't a lot of room in this little amp for larger coupling caps. The 0.47uF, 450V Auricap is 0.6" X 0.7". The 0.47uF, 400V Hovland is 0.6" X 2.0". It must fit or Divetech would not have recommended it, but it would be a tight fit.
I went the cheapest route and used Solen 0.33uF tin foil caps. (Although the schematic shows a 0.47uF, one of my amps came with 0.22's and the other came with 0.33's. I used the 0.33 value only because the next value was incrementally longer which would have made installation a bit more difficult.
By the way, isn't this a great little amp for the money?
