Eli-- Ive got a couple quads of JJ,coupla Svetlana quads, and a quad of Electro-Guitarix El34; If by some horrible cosmic disaster my NOS Dutch Amperex and Mullards vaporize, I will probably try the JJ again. I did use a quad of them in the Eicos when I was bi-amping, using the Eicos on a pair of Altec 515s; after six months, the entire top of the tube was covered with this sort of brown "goo" that was collecting and seemingly dripping down the inside of the envelope. This didn't exactly inspire confidence, and now that I am back to using just the Eicos, the sound with JJs just didn't measure up to any of my NOS, even the Matsushitas. The Dutch Amperex that are in there are hanging tough; full silver getters after a full year, no brown goo from vapoized internal tube components, and a gentle dull red glow split evenly betweem the 2 halves of the anode, visible only in a dark room. I don't hate modern El34s, but why drink E&J Gallo when you've got a fine selection of Chateu LaFite Rothschild? Chris
