The Amperex and Siemens NOS are the best, but they carry HEFTY price tags. The JJ E88CC is a good sounding current production tube that attempts to emulate the "classic" West European sound. Consistent reports of the JJ sounding better than the NOS Philips JAN and the current production Sovtek (Reflektor) can be found. "Uncle" Ned Carlson at AA sponsor Triode Electronics will ship you a nice JJ with good section matching for a very fair price (about $10).
