Passed on this thread earlier, as I thought perhaps I would be flamed off the board for how I run the bias on my Jolida.I have a Jolida 502A that I have modded to accept EL34's along with the usual resistor and cap upgrades. I run Amperex BB "DD" getter EL-34's at about 28 ma (thanks to a suggestion of the much missed Joe Rosen) and they just sound wonderful.
Like the Sylvania GB 6201's in the 12AT7 slots and, of course, 7729's are a wonderful 12AX7 sub, but so is the CryoVac's GE JG 5751 WA.
Very under rated PP amp, IMHO. Just requires a little TLC., a few parts and $1,000 worth of tubes!!
That's why they call it an Asylum!!!!
