I'm always very, very suspicious of items with #s of bids exceeding 20, esp. when many bidders have 0-2 feedback. Shilling is rampant on ebay- I cannot count the # of auctions where I've been outbid by a few bucks, and sure as Sh*t 3 days later get that oh so predictable e-mail, "my high bidder isn't answering my e-mails; do you want to pay the artificially manipulated final amount" or "I have an item just like this one left. Do you want to pay an artificially determined market price for it?" Well, maybe they're not worded EXACTLY like that, but my mother didn't raise any idiots. That said, I've gotten some INCDREDIBLE deals on ebay; just this morning my stupid cat woke me up meowing, and unable to fall asleep, I got up and logged on to the bay... promptly noticed a pair of Dutch "DD" Amperex labled "Sonotone" with perfect getters, clear glass, and a seller I've known to be honest and accomodating... "Buy It Now" $75 the pair. Sure, ebay is a minefield. Also true is that I know for a FACT that at least two vintage tube dealers look for deals on ebay, test their finds, and mark them up for people who think ebay is for idiots. Chris
