The Mullard tubes you are using should not be possesing the sibilence and brightness you are describing. Did you clean the pins on the tubes or the tube sockets before installing the tubes? The oxide layers on the tube pins can do all sort of nasty things sonically. The tubes will require a little break in period, but it has been my experience that they should sound pretty good right out of the box, and will improve a little more with break in. (40-50hours). Sibilence and brightness have not been a quality I have experienced with this particular tube. But in all fairness I have not used them in a DAC. What tubes were you using prior to making the change?
