Jim,I think you'll find that the line stage tube has the most impact on the overall sound because everything goes through it. My prediction is that the Siemens 6922 will be your favorite. Although it could be a real shoot-out between the Siemens and the Russian 6h23. If you can find one, the Siemens-Halske 7308 is a killer in the line. It's got a bottom end that'll rock you. I've attached a URL that will help you in identifying the true manufacturer of any relabeled tubes. One thing to point out about Siemens tubes ... the older Siemens-Halske are the best sounding. They have the "S" logo with an "H" superimposed over the "S". Newer tubes that just say "Siemens" just don't quite sound as good as the older versions. Before you invest in amplifiers consider buying a used SA12/100 or SA20/220 and having Mike modify it. Or take a look at his new Aria amp. My SA100 got the "Premium Gold" package about 6 months ago and I absolutely love it. My sense of it is that the Aria amp incorporates all of the same design changes of my rebuilt SA100 into a newly manufactured amp, except with a much sexier case. Take a look, there's a link on Mike's webpage to the new Aria stuff.
