mb has brought up a real good point. I find that plate voltage and biasing seem to affect the EL34-types more than others (like 6L6GC or KT-88). Maybe, it's because these are copies of the original Mullard EL34. These had delicate plates and soft vacuum. Actually were kinda cheap tubes, in their day.So, a wide range of results could be expected.
