Of all the tubes you are looking at I would pick the 6V6.To me its a much more sonically pleasing tube than the EL34,KT66,etc,etc.All the KT-88 amps I have heard usually have some "glassiness" to the sound.Nothing horrible but nothing to write home about either.I place the 6V6 along the lines of 300B,845,45 and 801a.Very nice indeed!Plus your amp should run cooler due to the lower filament draw of the 6V6.Electro Harmonix makes a nice 6V6 for the price.A dozen EH 6V6's from Triodeelectronics.com should run you about $120.Resonably cheap when compared to the options IMHO.
