Well, I should know since I have both the Stereo OTL driving Merlin VSM-M in a small room (12x15x8), and Super Compacts driving Vandersteen 4A in a larger room (25x27 with cathedral ceiling). You need the power of the Super Compacts for lower sensitivity and lower impedance speakers. When it comes to sound, I would pit the SC150 against any conventioanl tube amps (I have owned Golden Tube, Cary, and AudioPrism) for the same power and price range. But even Bruce would tell you that the OTL sound is special. The SC150 comes close but not matching the realism of the OTL. I had used the Stereo OTL to drive the highs in a biamping arrangement for the Vandy 4A but felt it was laboring (I like my Mahlers loud too). Now I biamp the SC150 with a pair of PSE Studio IV at the bottom and I am happy with the sound I get in the Vandy Room. See that setup above (I hide the amps behind the entertainment unit)
Feel free to write me for more details.
