I owned the 1501 for a while and it was a nice amp but still had some of those nasty characteristics of solid state, mainly the digital edge. I found a used Jolida SJ 502 for $475 which is the all tube version but uses 6550's vs the EL 34 used in the 302. This all tube version IMHO is much better than the 1501 except in the area of power. This isn't any problem though. I have been very pleased with the 502 and have found that tube magic. I would suggest going with the 302 or 502 as your choice if your looking to get into tubes. As another poster said, you can usually find them on Audiogon, Audio Review, Audioshopper, or from dealers who carry used equipment. Good luck.
