Sovtek is Mike Matthews' name for his tube buying / importing / selling business. Sovtek makes no tubes. He buys from Reflektor, Polarjon, Ulyanov, pretty much all the Russian manufacturers with the exception of Svetlana; who sell their own stuff in the west (or did; stay tuned). Electro Harmonix seemed to be a brand that he coined for tubes (and stomp boxes) aimed at the pro market, although this is purest speculation on my part; and now also serves as a name for duplicate types from different manufacturers. Reflektor comes up with a nice EL34, he already has a nice EL34 from Ulyanov; what's a girl to do?
Again, I'm just watching and guessing, about that last there. I really would like to know what the EH 6V6 sounds like though, as my amp uses them, and they're cheap and pretty.
