Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I've been bitten by the bug to build a final of my own. (Already using my own home-brew line stage driving a ST-70). I'm hitting the books (er--web pages) and learning to calculate loads. I'm still on the learning curve, but I was just given some NOS trannies. Not the greatest, but free. These are 10-pound-each Japanese Calrads, and the plate says they are rated at 25 watts with a 10,000 ohm primary and (of course) standard 4-, 8-, and 16-ohm taps on the secondary. They have screen grid taps on the primary. Now my primitive understanding is that these will never serve in SE applications -- special iron is needed for the resting current in class A SE applications. So I guess I'm looking at a push-pull configuration with these trannies, right? I just need a sugestion or two and I will continue my research. Thanks.
