Dear DC: The KT88 was produced first in 1957 as a heavy-duty "6550" by MOV/Genelex. From my experience, the best KT88 on the market today, is the Valve Art tubes. They sound wonderful and are rugged tubes. (I have not tried Svetlana's version) The Svetlana SV6550C is the best of this type, from my experience. From a music standpoint, I feel the Valve Art tubes have a little more "punch", ie, "peak power". You must consider the circuit they are used in; this is most important. Happy New Year!!!! Joe, aka, the "Beam Tube"
