Don't have any info about using the transformers to build another amp but, I have a S-5000IV and it is a good sounding amp. his is the second 1 I've had. Years ago, I found one and went through it replacig the caps, resistors, controls, and tube sockets with upgraded ones. Increased the filtering in the power supply and the result was a very good sounding unit. Did not do any circuit mods other than the increased filtering. The unit was a keeper but a very dear friend heard it with a set of E-V Centurians I had and begged for the setup including the 3000 series tuner, AR tt and my Tandberg 64x reel to reel. I have the amp and tuner and one day will go through them. The tuner was especially a sleeper.
