I've tried both 4004 tubes in the CAL Sigma II with 24/96 upgrade. Both tubes are warm, kinda laid back, but sweet. I prefer the Brimar because it is a little more forward and not as warm, or syrupy, as the Mullard. I understand the Brimar is especially popular with CAL Alpha owners.
