That's wrong. A concrete floor can be much more harming.When you build an OTL headphone amp you have to deal with a related problem: turn on output voltage peak that can damage your phones. A relay based delay curcuit can only delay the starup peak. A "soft" solution with tube rectifier or with a long time constant RC filter can solve both problems at once. The latter can supress a turn off peak as well however the plate voltage can be still high when the tube cools down.
