Having heard the Angela, Tesla (JJ), and Svetlana 300Bs in my home built 300B amps which are similar in overall design to the Laurels (using a mu-follower input stage, with a 6N1P and SV83), I can say that getting the JJs would be a considerable improvement for very little price difference. The Angela 300Bs are a really musical sounding tube (i.e. nice midrange), but have a softer, less distinct bottom end, a bit of fuzziness at the top, and slightly unfocused. The JJ's are really articulate at the bottom, and have clean, extended highs, but are less warm than the Angela and the Svetlana tubes. The Svetlana 300Bs have a slightly softer bottom than the JJs, but have a beautiful midrange and top end. I would characterize the sound of the JJs as closer to the Svetlana in overall quality than the Angela to the JJs. If you can afford it, I would go with the Svetlana 300Bs, they are really something special, although I could easily live with the JJs if I had to.
