I guess I said it wrong , yes you're right , they set the tube up at a standard Vp and grid bias ( sorry I don't have the figures with me now , I'm at the net cafe) and the current they come up with is used to make pairs . The question is if out of two tubes one has a current of 80mA and one of 45mA what is the physical reason for the difference and what does this mean about the relative lifetimes of the two different AVVT 2A3s . I can only imagine that possibly the higher current is because for some reason that particular tube is giving up its coating more freely , and so will not last as long . OR maybe it just has more coating on its cathode and so has more to give off and so then may last longer .
...I'm just curious and wondering out loud , if they both sounded the same ,which would be the better one to chose , that's all.
