I agree re KenRad, Tungsol, if you will include Syl. Syl VT-229s (milspec designation of a 6SL7) sound best among several tubes tried in my Luminescence phono section, including RCA 5691s. But the RCAs are very good, also, just a little less good than the Syls IMO.
