DJ,Yeah, with guitar amps, when a front end tube (especially a 12AX7) starts to loosen up---you can cause the amp to begin a feedback howl sooner and sooner. Gets to the point where setting the guitar down can induce a feedack.
But, your idea is a good one. Worth keeping in mind.
