Well, everyone has given you the definition of tube sound, which is far different from "tubey" sound. Take everything you read about tube sound and then overemphasize it, that's "tubey" sound. You most definitely want to avoid an amp that sounds "tubey", as it generally means bloated, slow and/or boomy. Has often been used by proponents of solid state to ridicule the tube sound.
