Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I recently bought 4 NOS Sylvania 7591A’s for my MC225 from a fairly large dealer of old tubes, etc. I jumped at the opportunity to spend TOO MUCH $$$, since I was starting to panic over their scarcity. These tubes have “SYLVANIA†printed on the base in a green color, when most used tubes I remember seeing were printed in yellow. The dealer had a fairly large quantity in new white boxes. How do I know that I didn’t buy counterfeits?
On a separate note, I compared these and another, older replacement tube to the original “Made for McIntosh†by Westinghouse, and noticed that the Mac tubes were a little larger, with a taller base and a “U†shaped heavy wire on the side, behind a silver patch on the glass.
I am a tubie newbie and reall appreciate anyones help.
Thanks
