I can't comment on the 300b but using the VAC Avatar I became very curious about replacing the EL34 Goldon Dragons with Svetlanas. I did so with really no degradation anywhere in the dynamic range, nor ensuing flatness, even though the avatar is voiced using the chinese tubes that Hayes seems to love. Maybe I don't have the golden ears Hayes does, but these tubes seem to work great in VAC gear. Anyway, they're dirt cheap and won't hurt your amp, so it won't hurt to try them.cheers.
