I dabbled with low-powered SETs for 17 or so years that I used to power my Avantgarde horn speakers. These varied from 6 watts (PX-25 - a great amp for most music) to 28 watt 845 monos.
However when I retired and was likely to be listening to much more music, the continued use of valve amps seemed questionable. I bought or borrowed a dozen good ss amps (from a few watts to 200) and chose one based solely on how good the sound was, irrespective of its technology or power. I went for the NAD Master Series M33 that uses Purifi's Eigentakt Class D technology, Its 200 watt output isn't of concern, despite my speakers being 107 dB as it offers so much ooomph when needed and I can cap its output to -20 dB to protect the speakers in the event the remote gets sat upon!
