Less internal resistance will result in less B+ voltage sag on big bass transients which will give you better subjective bass quality. That being said, solid state rectifiers will be the best in terms of bass (more power too as your voltage will be a little higher). Next would be a 5AR4.
The flavor of a 5U4 family that gives you the best bass will be one that is new and has the lowest voltage drop. Old rectifiers get weak and the amp can get muddy. Get a good know well measuring pair of 5U4s that you can swap in to see if your old tubes need replacing.
Sometimes new manufacture tubes play with the recipe a bit and change parameters from the original design that will sound different. If you are really chasing that bass, the final stop will be the high voltage CREE Schottky rectifiers.
