The triode option in most amplifiers that have this is merely a gimmick to make the amplifier seem more useful. All else being equal, triode mode needs different feedback and different output transformers. There might be instances where switching an amp to triode mode sounds better due to its effect on the amplifier-speaker interface, but the true benefits of triode operation will never be obtained this way. In your case, the description of your system and listening experience seems to indicate that your speakers need an amplifier of relatively high power. If it were me, I'd be looking for an amplifier based on triodes in class A push-pull, rather than single ended.
