I don't think it is necessary to wear gloves an not touch the glass on even the hottest tubes used in audio. The reason certain types of light bulbs fail because of being touched has to do with both the intense light and heat generated by the bulb. The oils from your hand becomes carbonized because of the heat. The black carbonized spots then absorb the intense light being generated and this creates a localized hot spot on the envelope that weakens the bulb causing them to shatter. None of these conditions occur with an audio tube.
What is more important is that tubes be handled by pulling and pushing them in place by their base, so as not to stress the glue connection between the envelop and the base. Afte many years, the glue can weaken.
