yes.....a Getter is generally metalic. Some contain some unusual materials And Aluminum.

They either REACT with gasses or ADSORB gasses to help maintain vauum purity.

Even though my only experience with getters is in high-vacuum systems for semiconductor processing, I would NOT run a tube as in the photo.

A short could create problems, for sure, but OTHER things may happen as well....and create downstream problems in weeks or months.
